The International Longshoremen’s Association and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union are a continent away in more than just geography. The ILA, which mainly represents workers on the east coast, is weak and reactionary, while the ILWU, which is predominantly a west coast organization, manages to maintain relatively militant and progressive. Though this has been true for most of their existence, it is especially clear this week.

Huffington Post: A Den of Scabs

If you’re a liberal, you probably read a blog known as the Huffington Post. Actually, if you spend any time at all on the internet, chances are that you read Huffington Post at least once a week. And it’s easy to understand why. It reports on a wide variety of subjects, its headlines are very BIG AND URGENT, and it provides a plethora of commentary from every famous person with a partially-formed opinion, whether it’s Russell Simmons telling everyone how awesome it is to be rich, Jenny McCarthy spreading the word about theories on autism that are so genius they defy science, or Alec Baldwin writing about whatever Alec Baldwin cares about.

But I need you to stop reading it. Right now.
